Wildcats Named to "All-Bowl Teams"
Defensive tackle Myron Pryor and kickoff returner David Jones were named to “All-Bowl Teams” selected after the wrapup of the bowl games.
Pryor and Jones were named to the “All-Bowl Team” chosen by CollegeFootballNews.com while Jones was picked to the team named by Rivals.com. Kentucky defeated East Carolina, 25-19, in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl on Jan. 2.
Pryor had a career-high seven tackles in UK's victory, including one tackle for a loss, one pass breakup, and caused the fumble that Ventrell Jenkins returned for the game-winning touchdown.
Jones was named in recognition of his 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown that ignited UK's second-half rally. The Wildcats trailed 16-3 at halftime before Jones received the opening kickoff of the third quarter and took it to the house. It set a record for the longest kickoff return in the 50-year history of the Liberty Bowl.

Kentucky's comeback victory over East Carolina was ranked the 11th best bowl game of the year by the website CollegeFootballNews.com.
CFN took all 34 bowl games and rated them for excitement/entertainment value. The Liberty Bowl was placed in the “excellent” category in earning the No. 11 ranking.
Trailing 16-3 at halftime, and 19-16 in the fourth quarter, UK got a 56-yard fumble return by Ventrell Jenkins for the winning touchdown with 3:02 remaining.

and their staff are getting early commitments
for the freshman class of 2009 are a record pace.
In early August, a 4-Star Pro-style
QB from Texas committed to the Cats,
and on August 21, 2008, a 5-Star QB
made it the daily double for the Cats for 2009.

1. Defensive Line
Everything starts up front.
For us to have the type of year we need to have as a team,
they're going to have to be the bell cows
5. Receivers
While things might look a little rough right now,
Phillips thinks his unit is headed in the right direction.
“I think there'll be some mistakes early, but when all is said and done,
we'll be strong at wide receiver,” Phillips said.
6. Running Backs
Brooks feels the tailback stable that is the
deepest and most talented position on the team.
The Wildcats plan to use a four-tailback rotation
with Dixon, junior Alfonso Smith and
sophomores Derrick Locke and Moncell Allen.
7. Quarterbacks
He's tall (6-foot-6), can move around a little bit and
improved his passing in the latter stages of spring practice.
Hartline struggled along with the rest of the offense
in the team's first fall scrimmage, but
the unit was more cohesive in the second scrimmage.
Cats Will Have Speed in their Backfield!!!!
Alfonso Smith said he developed his speed as a kid by racing against men.
Derrick Locke, ran for a touchdown against Vanderbilt last season. Locke also runs track for Kentucky.
